South Asian Heritage Month

South Asian Heritage Month begins on July 18th so as it largely falls in the holidays we decided we would like to mark it, as a school, a little earlier.

The 8 countries which come under this heading are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Bhutan, Nepal, India, Sri Lanka and the Maldives and this year’s theme is Journeys of Empire.

This year also marks 75 years since partition and 50 years since the expulsion of Ugandan Asians by Idi Amin so is particularly significant and many of you will be learning about these events in the coming weeks.
