There are  a growing number of alternative and changing progression routes for students to negotiate to achieve the best outcomes for themselves.

It is also important to understand the changing labour market and the impact this may have on career choices.

Here we hope to provide up to date information and links to aid this process and understanding  for each Key Stage.

Degree Level Apprenticeships

Degree level apprenticeships are growing fast across a broad range of professional careers sectors. University maybe your preferred route for your son or daughter but it’s certainly worth checking out the great opportunities coming through degree apprenticeships. Student debt after a 3 year degree can be around £40k. They have to be earning above £25k a year before they start paying and any remaining debt after 30 years is written off.  There is no debt through Degree Apprenticeships, with 5 years to complete a degree through an apprenticeship compared with 3 years for a degree at a University.

Degree Apprenticeships Information Evening 7th May 2019

"You are invited to attend a free Degree Apprenticeships Information Evening at Pearson Business School, giving you the chance to broaden your knowledge on this alternative and innovative route for students to gain a degree.

Andy Ware, Director of Strategic Partnerships at Pearson College London, will give an insight into how Degree Apprenticeships are evolving the Higher Education landscape. He’ll start from the basics, covering how they work, their pros and cons, and how students can apply. Andy will also be sharing how we’ve carefully designed a degree that is compatible with workplace learning, and the key differences compared to a more traditional degree.

We will be joined by leading global employer IBM, and as part of a panel discussion we will delve into what employers are looking for in apprentices, and how students can strengthen their application. There will also be a Q&A session to follow, with some of our own degree apprentices joining to share their experience so far and give insight into the student perspective.

Welcome, registration and refreshments will be open from 4.30pm with the first session starting at 5.00pm. "
